KSU: One of Metro Atlanta’s Top 25 Employers

Anyone in the Kennesaw State community can tell you how important the university is as a driver of higher education and research in Georgia. But they may not always think about how crucial a role KSU plays as an employer of more than 5,000 people and an economic engine within the entire metro-Atlanta region.

It is no accident that the Metro Atlanta Chamber recently recognized Kennesaw State as one of the 25 largest employers in the region, showing once again how much of an impact we have beyond our campuses.

Among the 233 organizations that qualify for the ranking, Kennesaw State was 22nd among metro Atlanta’s top employers, based on the 5,488 full-time equivalent employees working at the University. A big university with a growing reputation requires a significant workforce. These thousands of faculty and staff members are employed to make the student learning experience the best it can be.

At the same time, the ranking shows how important Kennesaw State is in keeping the Atlanta area’s economy growing.

We already knew that KSU is a major contributor to the region, as a University System of Georgia report last year showed the University has an economic impact of $1.46 billion, based in part on the salaries of our many employees and the spending by students in the region. But this ranking by the Metro Atlanta Chamber shows how we stack up against the multitude of businesses throughout the Atlanta area.

In addition to being one of the top employers for all of the Atlanta area, we also contribute to the overall productivity of metro Atlanta and the state through our students’ participation in internships, co-ops and careers after graduation.

We can be encouraged by this latest ranking of Kennesaw State, as we continue to demonstrate just how much we contribute to the region.
