Strike Up the Band
The Kennesaw State Marching Owls are the embodiment of the KSU spirit. Since their inaugural season in 2015, they have entertained and inspired us.
Led by Dr. Debra Traficante, director of Athletic Bands, associate director of Bands and associate professor of Music, this dedicated group of musicians and scholars represents more than 70 majors across both the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses. Among the Marching Owls are:
- 164 HOPE Scholarship recipients
- 72 Dean’s and President’s List honorees
- 43 Zell Miller Scholars
- 41 Honors College students
- 3 National Merit Scholars
This year’s 256-person ensemble is also our largest to date. The members hail from Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina and include 16 Eagle Scouts.
In just five short years, the Marching Owls have become a shining example of the exceptional quality of students attending our university. I encourage everyone to come out to Fifth Third Bank Stadium, not only to cheer on our Owl football team but to experience the sheer joy that is The KSU Marching Owls.
