Student Summer School Success
As summer begins to wind down and we get ready for the fall term, I would like to share one more piece of good news about the summer semester. The University System of Georgia recently released its summer semester enrollment report, and Kennesaw State was one of the institutions that showed significant growth since last year.
KSU saw an enrollment this summer of 17,425 students. That is overall an increase of approximately 1400 students, or almost 9 percent, from summer 2018. Those growth numbers put Kennesaw State in the top two among University System schools, both in terms of total number of students and the percentage increase since last summer. The entire University System of Georgia, composed of 26 institutions, experienced a 5.7 percent increase, or 8,356 additional students.
These numbers are worth pointing out because they reveal some fundamental factors about Kennesaw State.
First and foremost, students clearly are finding needed classes to take during the summer, which helps them maintain their momentum as they work toward graduation.
Second, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions did a great job of informing students of summer course opportunities during its Summer@KSU marketing earlier this spring.
Finally, and most importantly, Kennesaw State’s faculty and administrators have worked hard to provide students with multiple learning opportunities during the summer sessions. Whether classes are held on campus or online or as part of Education Abroad, there is something for everyone during the summer.
As Kennesaw State works to become one of the best R2 universities in the nation, these moments of growth will remind us that anything is possible when we keep our focus on students.
